Hiking and nature: discovering the trails of the Monti Martani

Trekking

Cesi is not only about history, culture, and biodiversity, but also an ideal destination for hiking enthusiasts and lovers of outdoor activities. Thanks to the network of trails that crosses the Monti Martani, visitors and enthusiasts can immerse themselves in evocative landscapes, lush forests, and panoramic views that reveal the most authentic soul of the area.

Promoting the knowledge of these places through hiking is also the association Intervalli, an organization committed to enhancing the Valnerina and southern Umbria. “I also work in hiking; I am an environmental hiking guide and a member of the Intervalli association,” explains zoologist Riccardo Mattea. “The association promotes the territory of Valnerina and southern Umbria in a 360-degree way, and therefore also the Monti Martani, through various outdoor-related activities.” Hiking is at the heart of the initiatives promoted by the association, which every year organizes numerous excursions dedicated to discovering the local natural heritage.

“Hikes are the core of our activity, and every year we schedule outings in the Monti Martani and along the trails of Cesi, including the less known ones,” Mattea continues. It is a valuable opportunity to experience the area up close, accompanied by expert guides who allow visitors to discover not only the most frequented routes but also hidden itineraries and less explored corners of the mountain. Walking through holm oak woods, beech forests, meadows, and panoramic ridges, it is possible to observe up close the extraordinary biodiversity that characterizes this part of Umbria and to learn curiosities about its flora, fauna, and landscape history.

The activities promoted by Intervalli therefore represent an opportunity to approach nature in a conscious way, enhancing an environmental heritage that makes Cesi and the Monti Martani an increasingly appreciated destination for hikers and outdoor lovers.
